We have now met all of the "main" heroines of the game and gotten their names at the least, other than one. The last girl is a bit difficult to run into sometimes, because her appearance has some RNG elements to it. We'll just have to hope we see her this playthrough. I feel like once you get further in the game, you stop meeting new people. I've felt like this in all Tokimeki Memorial games. Maybe there's some kind of 'cutoff point' where you won't meet new people after that date or something.
Anyway, we're going to continue on from where we left off last time, in the fall.
We spend most of our time working on our studies like usual, and in free time have been playing a love simulation game. We're getting pretty close to finishing it.
We level up our stats often, but we just keep getting the event where you can try to wait for someone to walk home with, and then have to walk home alone if that person doesn't show up or you can't find them after school or whatever. I kept picking Oda since we haven't been able to walk home with her or go on a date with her or anything yet.
We kept walking home alone.
Like, a lot.
But finally we actually run into her, and she even agrees to walk home with us when it's raining! Maybe she feels bad about that time she blew up at us for... trying to talk to her...
The last Sunday of the month is coming up, and it's going to be sunny, so I feel like it's the perfect date to try to plan a date. It's a bit hard trying to decide exactly what to ask her to do, though. It's usually difficult to get a girl to agree to go to a far-away place that you'll need to take the bus or train to get to for your first date, so you have to pick something nearby that you can walk to.
This leaves us with only four options: the riverside park, the hilltop park, the shopping centre, the video arcade, and the flea market at the shrine which happens to be going on on that day.
I feel like Oda probably would feel she's too good for shopping at a crummy strip mall or loitering around a gaming arcade. Similarly, I feel like she'd rather die than go to a flea market. So that leaves just the two parks. In the end, I go with the riverside park, since the hilltop park requires a bit more commitment to exercise, and that just... doesn't seem like her.
But she ends up rejecting the date, anyway, saying she has something to do. I don't think any of the girls in this game will bluntly tell you they don't want to do things with you (maybe if you get them to hate you?) so everyone always pretends they have plans. But I think that's a normal politeness thing or whatever.
Later that night at home, we realize that it's our birthday, and it seems not one person remembered or noticed at all...
We get another one of those Metal-Gear-alert scenes with Kawai. This time she's pretty close, and even though she runs away, it's obvious it's her that's following us around and videotaping us. But she seems to be getting a bit braver, popping up in closer positions...
We spend our lonely weekend finishing up the love sim game we were playing. It adds a "cleared love sim game" into our inventory, and we gain "clearing love sim games" as a conversation topic that we can use later when we can actually choose conversation topics.
Since that's done, I check out a feature that's, in a way, kind of hidden. I'm not sure if it's even listed in the manual or anything, but if you change the cursor mode to the mouse-like mode, you can move the cursor over to the television in your room. There's no other way to select it, so you have to be in mouse-like mode. Clicking on the TV will choose to spend your day watching TV.
You always get weird infomercial home shopping things. In this one, the host Bob is asking the co-host Johnny why he's feeling so down. He says he's so unpopular that no one even can remember his name. Bob tells him he has the perfect product for him...
Mustache glasses! If he wears those, he should become popular instantly... Johnny puts them on and gets excited. People will definitely remember him if he's wearing these!
And, well, I AM EXCITED. It's those gag glasses with the big nose and mustache attached at the bottom. I love mustache stuff, obviously, so I actually order them from the TV ad.
Since we heard the number for the home shopping network on the TV, it's been added to our phone book thing, and we can call it! Calling it, we get a receptionist and we tell her we want to order the mustache glasses...
With that, we head back to school when the weekend is over and spend the week resting. A few days later, we get a visitor to our door, and it's a delivery! So now we've added mustache glasses to our inventory. We can give them as a present or wear them on dates. Honestly I don't think this item will ever be helpful in the game in any way (unless you're trying to get the girls to definitely ditch you on dates or something) but I'm still very happy to have acquired these...
Later on after school, Kawai approaches us and asks us if we're free at the moment. We are, I guess, so I say yes, and she starts jumping and flapping excitedly, asking us to follow her. We have no idea what's going on, but we follow along anyway.
She takes us to the school's science labs where the science clubs' activities are held.
After dragging us here, Kawai immediately goes back to working on science experiments or something, and we're even more confused. We try getting her attention by saying her name, but we don't really get any response.
AND THEN WE ARE SUDDENLY BEING ELECTROCUTED.
It only lasts a few seconds, though. After a hearty, "What the hell, Kawai?!" she tells us that she used electricity on our body, and we may have felt a little tingling. We respond that it certainly was no "little tingling," and she apologizes, still with a smile on her face.
She tells us, though, that she was able to get some great result data from it, and thanks us for participating. And then she just kinda leaves. And we're still pretty confused...
After this, a whole lot of nothing happens. There's so many waiting-after-school-for-someone-but-no-one-shows-up events...
One day we happen to run into Tachibana and ask her to walk home, and she does!
I don't really feel like going on another date with her again right now, since I'm trying to get to know everyone else, and we actually managed to hang out with her once already. Plus we see her regularly in Akido. We could choose to just continue our walk, or we could ask for her number.
I figure I may as well try.
But she seems uncomfortable and tells us she doesn't really want to give it to us...
So now we probably upset her and we didn't get a number. Yay!
More nothing continues to happen, and eventually it becomes December, and the Winter edition of Moegino Watcher is out. It seems that there's quite a few new things to do around town: there's an aquarium, ski slopes, and a skating rink opening, a laser light show going on at the amusement park WaiWai World, finally a different movie other than that penguin thing (this one seems to be an Indiana-Jones-like action-adventure film), and the KNM Orchestra is playing!
Again after school, Kawai asks us if we have any free time. This instead of just saying yes or no, we also have the option of saying something like "Well, I have time, but..." hahaha.
Even after what happened last time, I still love Kawai too much to say no. So we end up going along with her again, and she again just tells us to follow and runs off to the science labs.
This time she says she's going to survey our brain waves. We're kinda freaked out, but this time it seems to be much safer. We don't really know what's going on, but it seems she gathered a lot of results and is happy again, and we're able to leave. But we'd still really like to know exactly what it is she is up to...
As winter break from school approaches, we have one more Akido competition which we win yet again, and our winter exams. We actually manage to do amazingly well at the exams, getting perfect scores on four of the five of them, and a 92 on the other, putting us at the #1 ranked spot in the school!
We get the chance to ask Aizawa to walk home with us, but she refuses the offer. From the hobbies menu I get a CD catalogue and then order an idol pop CD, since... again, that's a thing I would really get in real life (let me show you my Morning Musume collection lolll)
Eventually, the 24th rolls around, which is our last day of school before break. There's a flyer for the school Christmas Party, and after talking with Yabe and Shiratori (who, of course, think of it solely as an opportunity to
harass talk to girls) we wonder if we should go, too.
Before heading out, we get to choose our outfit.
You guessed it; we're wearing the suit again.
We head to the banquet hall where the party is being held, and we run into Tachibana right away. We exchange pleasantries and "Merry Christmas"es and she has a friend she needs to meet up with and goes on her way.
Then a very similar thing happens with Makihara. These aren't particularly interesting conversations, just small talk. Like with Makihara, we talk about how we're surprised that the party is so elaborate for a high school party for one line each and then she, too, leaves us to meet up with a friend.
Kawai's conversation is nothing more than, "Oh, hey, you're here. The party is fun. I'm here with my friend. Bye."
Though it is fun to see everyone's fancy party outfits. Kawai is even wearing contacts! Personally I like the glasses better, but it's still cute. Also I love the way she touches her lips like that when she talks. Adorable :D
While there's not a lot of substantial content in these conversations, this event has a bit of a secret meaning behind it. The order the girls talk to you is the order in which who has the highest opinion of you at the moment.
So right now, Tachibana likes us the most, then Makihara, and then Kawai. Oda and Aizawa would come after that somewhere, but we only get to see the order of the top three.
After our mingling session, we head over to the gift exchange table. We decide what to put in the gift exchange... at this moment. So like, we're just carrying everything in our inventory with us and we pull stuff out and wrap it here and place it on the table...? I think it would have made more sense if they had us choose before leaving for the party, like before or after choosing our outfit...
Anyway, since I don't know what else to do with them, I choose to give away the mustache glasses. In a way, I'm sad I didn't keep them and try them out, but I was kind of hoping we'd get to see someone open them and it might be funny.
We put our gift into the stack and then we get to choose a gift for ourselves.
Of the four we can choose from, I like the color of the yellow box the most, so I pick that. Inside is an idol CD! This one is different from the one we ordered, too, so that's great. The one we got from the catalogue was an "ocean" complete works, and this one is a "pine" complete works. I have no idea what these titles mean; I don't think they're supposed to be the name of the group or anything. I think it's like... a theme for the songs in the collection? But it's a complete works, so why would it be limited to a theme...?
Anyway, Shiratori charges over and scolds us for choosing his present, because he wanted a girl to get it. And we don't even notice who got our present. So in the end, we just threw our precious mustache glasses away...
With that, the Christmas Party is over, and our Winter Break has begun!
