Tamagotchi Pix
Starting Guide
Welcome, new Tamagotchi caretaker! Tamagotchi have come from Tamagotchi Planet to experience life on Earth. Through your Tamagotchi Pix device, you can interact in various ways with the creature and guide it from its birth, hatching from an egg, to its adulthood, when it returns to Tamagotchi Planet to carry out a profession. The way you care for Tamagotchi will determine how it grows and how it returns to its home planet.
There are three touch-sensitive buttons on the face of the Tamagotchi Pix device. Lightly tap these buttons to interact with Tamagotchi and navigate menus. We call the left button the A button, the center button the B button, and the right button the C button. In general, the A button is used to navigate to the next option in a menu, the B button is used to confirm selections, and the C button is used to cancel or go back to a previous menu.
In addition to the A, B, and C buttons, there is a reset button on the back, and the top of the device can be pressed in like a camera shutter.
Swiping
If you place your finger on the A button and slide across the B button to the C button, or the other way around, placing your finger on the C button and sliding across the B button to the A button, this is called a Swipe. Swiping from left (A) to right (C) is called Swiping Right, while swiping from right (C) to left (A) is called Swiping Left. Various modes and games will require you to Swipe the buttons to interact with Tamagotchi.
Entering Letters
While most menus can be navigated with the general controls above, the text-entry screen is a bit more complex. You will be presented with a series of empty character boxes where you can enter one character each. Press the A button to move the cursor to the right, or press the C button to move the cursor to the left. Press the B button to begin text entry for the character box where the cursor is located.
Once you begin text entry in a character box, you can choose from four character sets: Alphabet, Symbols, Emoticons, and Numbers. Press the A button to switch between which character set you want to choose from, and press the B button to select the character set that is currently shown.
Once the character set has been chosen, press the A button to scroll the cursor through the available characters. Press the A button while holding the C button to move backward through the available characters. Press the B button to select a character to enter into the text field.
Once you enter a character into the text field, you will return to the boxes where you can choose which character of the string you want to edit.
To finish text entry, either enter a character in the final character box, or press the A button once more once the cursor is selecting the final character box during box selection mode. If you hvae not entered any text at all, you will be prompted to try again. If you decide you do not want to enter any text, press the C button once more while the first character box is highlighted to cancel.
Energy-Saving Mode
When no buttons have been pressed for 30 seconds, the Tamagotchi Pix device will enter Energy-Saving Mode. The screen will turn off and will only activate again if the shutter button is pressed or if Tamagotchi has a need.
Unscrew the back of the Tamagotchi Pix device with a 3mm flathead screwdriver. Remove the back cover and insert two AAA batteries. Replace the back cover, which should in turn press the reset button, starting the device. If the device does not start, gently press in the reset button on the back with a pointed object such as the tip of a pencil. Also try pressing in the camera shutter at the top of the device.
Once the device starts up, it will ask you to select which language the device will use. Use the A button to change language options and the B button to confirm selection of a language.
After language selection, you will be prompted to set the clock. Press the A button to advance the numbers in the date and time, and press the B button to advance to the next number when you have correctly entered the current one.
After the time and date have been set on the clock, you will be prompted to enter your nickname. This is the name Tamagotchi will call you. Use the "Entering Letters" guide in the previous section to navigate the menu and enter a nickname.
After your nickname has been entered, you will need to enter your birthday. This works like setting the date on the clock.
After entering your birthday, you will be taken to the attribute quiz.
The attribute quiz discovers your personality and selects a Tamagotchi egg custom-fit for you.
The first thing you will do is take a picture of yourself. In a well-lit area, have someone take a picture of you aligned in the frame on the screen. Pictures are taken by pressing in the camera shutter on top of the device.
Once you have uploaded your photo, you will be asked three personality questions. In the first question, you can choose your favorite food from Dreamy Cotton Candy, Matcha Parfait, ?????, or Chocolate Cake. In the second question, you can choose your favorite tool from Science Project, Fluffy Cloud, Violin, or Bicycle. In the last question, you can choose your favorite color from Pink, Blue, Green, or Purple.
Once you've finished the Attribute Quiz, a special egg will be chosen just for you from Tamagotchi Planet!
After about one minute, your egg will hatch and it will be time to start taking care of Tamagotchi!
When Tamagotchi needs you, it will call for you, and the Call Sign will appear in the top right corner of the screen. Tamagotchi will call for you when it is hungry, sad, or sick. It's up to you to decide the proper care needed for Tamagotchi. You can check on Tamagotchi's needs by looking at the Status Menu. If Tamagotchi is unhappy, feed it snacks or play games with it (games can only be played once Tamagotchi is a Child). If Tamagotchi is hungry, feed it meals.
When Tamagotchi is sick, you won't need to go to the Status Menu. You will see a Tamagotchi Cold icon or a Cavity icon near Tamagotchi, and a prompt to press all three buttons at once. Press A, B, and C buttons all at once to summon medicine to cure Tamagotchi. You can also go into the main menu and select Medicine from the second page as well.
Now and then, Tamagotchi will poop. If you see it wiggling with discomfort, quickly select the Bathroom option from the menu to take it to the toilet. If you miss this moment, Tamagotchi will poop on the floor. To clean up poop from the floor, select the Bathroom option, then when the Living Room appears again, swipe left.
Once it reaches the adult stage, Tamagotchi will have specific needs and desires; fore example, Tamagotchi may want to only eat at a restaurant for its meal. Be sure to pay attention to what Tamagotchi is saying to you.
After hatching from its egg, Tamagotchi starts its life in the Baby stage. Soon, it will evolve into its Child stage. After about a day, it will evolve into a Teenager, and then it finally evolves into an Adult.
Once Tamagotchi reaches around 7 years old, it will be time to send it back to Tamagotchi Planet. To do this, you'll need to create a photo album with your Tamagotchi using at least three photos so you can say goodbye. If you don't have three photos you cannot make an album and thus not say goodbye. When you gather three photos, you can make an album from the Décor menu to say goodbye.
After saying goodbye to Tamagotchi, you will receive a new egg and be able to take care of a new Baby.
If you don't want to say goodbye to Tamagotchi, you can choose not to, as long as your friendship status is Best Pals. As long as you don't say goodbye with an album, Tamagotchi will stay with you as long as you take care of it. If you didn't say goodbye to Tamagotchi immediately when it requested, you can do so when you are ready by making an album through the Decor menu.
It is also possible for Tamagotchi to die. If left sick for too long, Tamagotchi will enter an emergency status. Use the Phone to call an ambulance quickly, or Tamagotchi will die. When Tamagotchi dies, you can see its final information, and then hatch a new egg by pressing A while holding C.
When Tamagotchi becomes an adult, its Character Room will open and it will start studying a Profession. Visit the character room frequently and Tamagotchi may ask for help with its training. Complete a minigame to help Tamagotchi learn its Profession. There are three different types of study Tamagotchi can do, depending on what kinds of activities Tamagotchi partakes in. Tamagotchi that spend a lot of time playing games at the arcade will become performers, while Tamagotchi that spend a lot of playing with their favorite items will become customizers. Tamagotchi that don't spend as much time at the arcade or playing with items will become cooks.
Cooking Training
In the Cooking Room, you will need to help Tamagotchi stir the pot. A cursor will move left and right quickly over a colored gauge. Stop the cursor with the B button when it is in the red area of the gauge to succeed. You will play three rounds, and the more red areas you stop in, the better your ranking. If you make an Excellent rank by hitting red all three times, you'll be able to store the food you made in the Fridge.
Performance Training
In the Performance, you will need to help the audience cheer on Tamagotchi while it performs. Tap any of the A, B, or C buttons to have the audience cheer and gain hearts, which fills up a guage at the top of the screen. You can also press multiple buttons at once as well as swipe to help the audience cheer. The more you fill up the gauge at the top of the screen, the better your ranking will be.
Customization Training
In the Customization Room, you will need to help Tamagotchi build a custom item for a customer. You can choose between two colors and styles to try to match what the customer is asking for. If you create the appropriate item for the customer, you will succeed.
When Tamagotchi becomes an adult, you can enter Petting Mode by pressing the B button while on the Living Room Home Screen. Tamagotchi will approach you and you can interact with it by swiping left or right or pressing the buttons. Petting mode is also a photo opportunity, so you can press the shutter button to take a photo while petting. To exit Petting Mode, hold down the C button for a short time.
Swiping from the Living Room will bring you to the Garden. Visit the Garden once a day to water it. Every three days being successfully watered, fruits will grow from the tree. It is even possible to get items other than fruits! Fruits will be sent to the fridge, while other items will be sent to the Item Box.
